The Masterpieces for Tasmania is an annual appeal that gives everyone the opportunity to help QVMAG to acquire a masterpiece for the QVMAG collection.

In this way, Tasmanians from all corners of the state have the chance to have a permanent, immediate and important impact on the development of what is an art collection of national significance.

The Masterpieces for Tasmania appeal was officially launched in 2013. This initiative has brought together individual donors from not only the immediate Launceston region but all over Tasmania.

The program is building a wonderful legacy for future generations.

Michael McWilliams’ Masterpiece Appeal

The launch of our Masterpiece Appeal was announced to commission a painting by Michael McWilliams.  The announcement was well received with Michael being a favourite local artist well known to members.  Donations have been steadily arriving in our bank account towards our goal of $60,000.  More is needed, we are only part way to the goal, please consider making a donation. QVMAG does not have any paintings by Michael which is an omission for such a renowned local artist.  A retrospective exhibition is being organised for later this year which is certain to draw a lot of attention.
